Fantasy Football...Draft #2, 1 Left...the money league

Ok draft #2 for the league that I am the commish of is in the books.  I feel so so about my picks, I feel my team has potential but I'll I'm not sure how much guaranteed points in the books I have right now.  I'm still lacking on WRs and this is now a PPR league, so maybe I can pick up some sleepers as the season goes on.  I picked at #11 out of 14 teams.

LABOR MUSIC presented by Reds-N-RipRock

Our daughter has arrived and we brought her in to a 14 hour iTunes playlist of music played on random.  The great thing is that we didn't need whole list to get her here.  So we kept track of the songs played from the playlist and here you go, Reds-N-RipRock presents....Labor Music.

So here's our album of music from the first push til the moment we left the Labor Room with the new edition to our family.

The first list is the music that played as Laila was being pushed out until the moment that the doctors caught her, cleaned her nose, cleaned her mouth, and her first cry rang out like symphony sent from heaven above.

Disc One - The Pushing
01. The Roots - The Seed 2.0: What a great song to start the pushing to! I've always love the lyrics to this song.
02. Jodeci - Good Luv: A great upbeat song.
03. D'Angelo - Lady: Classic love song
04. Michael Jackson - Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground): You can't help but love this track
05. D'Angelo - Me and Those Dreamin' Eyes of Mine: This is 1 of my favorite D'Angelo songs.
07. Michael Jackson - Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough: This video is cheesy but the song was the upbeat that we needed.
21. Will.I.Am - Ain't It Pretty: And finally Laila makes her arrival and to a great song like this. Of course Will is talking about a woman he's pursuing but the chorus just sayin "Aint it Pretty" hits the right spot.

The second list of music is what played as the doctors cleaned Laila, took her measurements, weight, and other vitals to get us ready to move to the post partem room so that we could receive guest and eventually get some rest.

Disc Two - The Arrival
Click here for the full YouTube playlist (minus Carl Thomas & RnB tracks)
02. Cee-Lo - My Kind of People: this is my song! I love the island beat and the lyrics are great!
04. Commodores - Lady (You Bring Me Up): another song that fits so perfectly.
06. Lissen Band - Sunshine: You know we had to have some Go-Go mixed in there somewhere and no song would've fit better than this one.
07. Usher - There Goes My Baby: I was still with Tosha at this time but looking over to the Panda Warmer at Laila while they were cleaning her up and getting all her measurements and vitals when this song played.
08. K-Ci & JoJo - All My Life: One of my favorite love songs.  I had been waiting All My Life for this moment right here.
14. RnB - Baby: this is a great love song by a friend of mine RnB that graduated from High School with me.
18. Luther Vandross - She's A Super Lady: Crazy enough this song is from 1981 when Tosha & I was born.
19. Will.I.Am - She's A Star: Both Tosha and Laila are my stars, and they have lit my life up. I love this song. I feel like the lyrics fit perfectly for Tosha and I.
20. Stevie Wonder - Isn't She Lovely: This song and My Cherie Amour have been the theme songs to being the father in my head from the moment I found out that I was having a girl.  There's no other song better so show the love for a father to his daughter than this song.  I was very happy that it actually came on just as we were about to exit the Labor room.  I can listen to this song over and over again, everyday.

Fantasy Football...1 Draft Down, 2 To Go...

Well I usually do a 3 teams maximum every year, which usually the 3rd one is just a random one with random people on yahoo that I do so that I can kind of get the feel for the draft.  But this year my homeboy Wayne aka Roger aka @PsiManSayz created a league using NFL.com (my 1st time using them) called TweetMyFantasy and a bunch of people from twitter are in the league so the trash talk will probably spill over to tweets all week.

We had our draft for this league earlier this week and I am very content with my team, even though the draft started at 1:00pm and I was in a deep sleep, mid-day, nap until 1:15.  The only place I feel that I'm lacking is the WR position.

Check out my team.

My next draft is this Sunday for my yahoo league the Beltway Brawls, this is our 5th year and I'm the commissioner.  Then a few days before the NFL season we will have the East Coast Blitzers Live draft at an undisclosed location for the 7th season of my money league.  This will be my 6th season with them.  My friend Ian won 4 straight championships, then I won the championship in season 5, last year the biggest trash talker in the league took home the crown.  I'll post my teams for those leagues after the drafts.

Perfect Rainy Day Song...'Cause You Cold Busted!

This morning I woke up singing this song due to the monsoon that was going on outside and weird dream that I had.  But this song is one of my All-Time favorites, the first time I randomly saw the video on BET it became a classic in my book.  LOL.
Oran "Juice" Jones - Walking In The Rain

The whole song is actually pretty good, has a nice harmony and good lyrics, but the part that got me and surprised me the first time was the "rap" at the end. (My mom said back in the day before hip-hop, the part of the song when the singer would talk was call the rap).  Of course this has been done over a few times since then Ghostface and Ne-Yo did it, but nothing is more classic than this original.  Here's the lyrics to the "rap", this is hilarious!!!  I'll put in bold my favorite parts.

Hey hey baby how ya doin' come on in here
Got some hot chocolate on the stove waiting for you
Listen first things first let me hang up the coat

Yeah how was your day today
Did you miss me?
You did? Yeah? I missed you too
I missed you so much I followed you today

That's right now close your mouth
'Cause you cold busted

Now just sit down here, sit down here
I'm so upset with you I don't know what to do
You know my first impulse was to run up on you and do a Rambo
I was about to jam you and flat blast both of you
But I didn't wanna mess up this thirt-seven hundred dollar lynx coat
So instead I chilled...That's right chilled

I called up the bank and took out every dime.
Than I cancelled all your credit cards...
I stuck you up for every piece of jewelery I ever bought you!
Don't go lookin' in that closet 'cause everything you came here with is
packed up and waiting for you in the guest room.

What were you thinking?
You don't mess with the Juice!

I gave you silk suits, blue diamonds and gucci handbags.
I gave you things you couldn't even pronounce!
But now I can't give you nothing but advice.
Cause you're still young, yeah, you're young.
And you're gonna find somebody like me one of these days . . .
Until then, you know what you gotta do?
You gotta get on outta here with that alley-cat-coat-wearing,
punch-bucket-shoe-wearing crumbcake I saw you with.
Cause you're dismissed!

That's right, Silly rabbit, tricks are made for kids,
Don't you know that you without me is like corn flakes without the milk!
This is my world. You're just a squirrel trying to get a nut!
Now get on outta here. Scat!
Don't touch that coat...

Sexual Activity by Smart Phone Brand

This has to be THEE most random survey and comparison of two things that I probably would have never mentioned in the same sentence.  They used it to come up with an actual statistic.  Some people have too much time on their hands...

BUT! Since I'm looking at the "statistics" lets analyze them and try to come up with an explanation.

  • Women in general appear to be more active than men.
  • iPhone is a "fun" phone.  More fun less business.  Therefore lets assume iPhone owners are the "funnest" of the smart phone owners.  They party more, work less, and tend to be more openly wild.  This appears to be an excessive truth for female iPhone owners. LOL.
  • Blackberry is more of a business or corporate phone.  So lets say their owners are more about business and don't really have as much time for fun as the iPhone owners.  But then again since Blackberry has been multitasking for the longest, we can also assume so has their owners.  Especially due to the fact that the people in corporate power positions are known for having extra marital affairs.  But lets face it, its usually with someone at their job because they spend more time at work than home. So they are a active but not as active as the "fun boys" and "fun girls" that own iPhones.
  • Finally the Android the newest of the smartphones.  The Android has been said to be a mix of Fun and Business.  The Google Android OS is a dream operating system for internet geeks and programmers.  Open Source, create your own apps, the ability to overclock your phone's processor, root you phone and customize the operating system, etc...  With all that said I guess its easy to believe that most of the Android owners are computer geeks and techie people, must I say more?  LOL
Warning: Fellas if you meet a girl that has an iPhone when you meet her, watch her carefully she might be a wild one!  (j/k)

Confusion: I've never owned an iPhone, I've gone from Palm for 1 year to Blackberry for 2 years, my next phone will be an Android, but I do look forward to going back to Blackberry if they make the proper updates and upgrades to their hardware and operating system in the near future.

Apple, whats the point of this?

I love the trackpad on my Macbook, I even forget how to use tradition Windows trackpads because I'm so used to the multi-touch features.  It makes everything easier.  So when they came out with the Magic Mouse with similar features it made sense to me, because iMac, Mac Mini, and Mac Pro users should get the same convenience that MacBook users get.  Good job Apple!
But I think this Magic Trackpad falls a little short, whats the point...

  • It's more than a third of the size of the keyboard...
  • What makes it different or better than the Magic Mouse? Its just a big trackpad and will take up more room on a users desk.
  • It would've been nice if they added a Pen so that artist could use it to draw as well as have all the functionality of the Macbook trackpad. Similar but better than the Bamboo Pen & Touch Pad.
  • They should have made an all in one wireless keyboard with built in trackpad much like the Logitech diNovo Edge Mac Edition Cordless Keyboard, but with a larger size trackpad.

Maybe I'm only hatin on this because I would like to have my Macbook connected to my HD TV and sit back and use it wirelessly with the perfect keyboard/mouse combo.  But I don't want to get one with a touch pad that doesn't have the same multi-touch features that I've grown to love.  I also don't want two devices sitting on my lap, that defeats the purpose...

So Apple (Steve Jobs) c'mon just combine these great ideas and make one amazing device so that I can buy it! Please....  Oh yeah and ship it with Windows 7 drivers so that I can make my Desktop PC more fun to use.  Thanks!  I'm sure many others will appreciate it too.

Bein A What....LOL

I'm sorry I just had to post this joint.  The hook is so silly, and I'm not sure whats going on with the beat.  To be honest dude could be flowin hard but the hook is soooooooooo distracting.  But I can't lie that joint sticks you and gets stuck in your brain!  Shout out to Morgan State and Duval High on this one...

To Pre-Order or Not To Pre-Order...

I've never understood the point of pre-ordering anything that I know I can find in-stock at some store somewhere.  When I worked at Circuit City every year Madden came out we sold a lot of copies but we prepared for that buy having a lot more on hand.  So whats the point of pre-ordering a game or a movie?  In my mind there is no point.  I will admit I pre-ordered Madden 10 last year for no reason, then went to Game Stop at 11pm the night before it came out and got my copy and played it once that night before going to bed and not playing it again until a time later in the evening of the release.  Which means I could've just bought it from the store during the day like anyone else.  But hey I was unemployed at the time and I had time on my hands, going to Game Stop at midnight wasn't a big issue.

This year it is different....

For one I pre-ordered Avatar on bluray from Amazon because I'm a prime customer and get free shipping and the bluray was going for $16.99 when pre-ordered via Amazon.  The bonus to all of this was the fact that it showed up at my door step the same day it was released to the stores.  I got it on time, cheaper, and didn't have to go anywhere to get it! FTW! (for the win).

So when my homeboy told me that amazon had a special for pre-ordering Madden 11 I figured I should check it out, since I was partially thinking about pre-ordering it from Game Stop again and taking advantage of their special offer for getting it from them.  You can pick it up at midnight (I'll probably be sleep), some events get unlocked, and you receive 20,000 coins to use in the game for different game modes.

But then I check Amazon and they tell me if I pre-Order Madden (or any other game you might want, like Halo Reach or Call of Duty: Black Ops) that I will receive a $20 credit towards the next game that I buy.  This is a no brainer... I immediately pre-Ordered mine.  It will be at my door step August 10th, I'm not paying shipping, and Amazon does an auto price match, so if someone else is selling it for less than $59.12, they will refund you the difference.

Here's the exact wording for the deal:

Get it the day it comes out!
Pre-order and select Release-Date Delivery at checkout. See details.
Get a $20 Video Games Credit
Pre-order Madden NFL 11, for Wii, PS3, or Xbox 360, and get $20 off a future video game purchase.
